Who the work is for, who runs it, and who else is involved.
BGS Strategies works with independent HVAC and plumbing company owners and their leadership teams, usually doing $3 million to $20 million a year. The work is for the owner who built the company and has become the bottleneck inside it, where revenue keeps climbing and profit does not follow it.
Most engagements start with the owner, and the leadership team joins the work once the plan is set.
Kerry Webb is the founder of BGS Strategies. He has coached and consulted home-service business owners since 2008, he has written three books for this industry, and he has spoken at trade association conferences from Hawaii to South Carolina. There is a fuller account of his background on the about page.
He holds a PhD in Business Management and taught management at university for nineteen years. That is the last thing he leads with. What he brings to a home-service company is business management applied to the trades.
No. BGS Strategies is a small team. Paul Burgess works with the business as a Business Coach and Tech Trainer, and Kerry Webb leads the coaching engagements himself, so the owner who signs up deals with the person whose name is on the method rather than with a rotating account manager.
His speaking record, his talk topics and his booking details sit on the speaker and media kit page.
The method, the promise attached to it, and the things BGS Strategies will tell you plainly that it does not do.
The 90-Day Plan is the flagship at BGS Strategies. It runs for ninety days, it is where every client starts, and the free Blue Collar Blueprint community and Business Assessment are the way in before it. Six components look at the business in turn and produce a short, ordered list of the things to fix first.
The six are the Profit Leak Analysis, the Labor Efficiency Review, the Service Health Check, the Sales Analysis, the Customer Experience Journey and the Enterprise Value Score. The work is then delivered three ways: Coaching for Results, Leadership Training and Systems and Tools for Growth, all of which sit under the 90-Day Plan.
The guarantee is Kerry Webb's own sentence: "We will help you find $100,000 that's hiding in your business in 90 days or less, or we work with you until you're satisfied." The guarantee applies to coaching engagements, and its terms are agreed before the work starts.
The 90 days in that sentence are the same 90 days as the 90-Day Plan, because the guarantee is attached to that engagement rather than to a product or a download.
Kerry Webb reviews your baseline with you on the first call, and the two of you set your 90-Day Targets together. The goals and expectations are agreed up front.
No. Kerry Webb refers valuations out to someone who does them for a living. The 90-Day Plan includes an Enterprise Value Score, which is a working number used to steer decisions during the 90 days, and it is not a valuation you could take to a buyer, a lender or a broker.
If you need a formal valuation, ask and you will get pointed at the right person. It is not work BGS Strategies takes on.
Yes, but the coaching leads with HVAC and plumbing. Those are the trades Kerry Webb has stood in front of for years, and they are the trades the pages on this site are written for. Electrical is one of the options on the contact form, and an electrical owner who gets in touch gets a straight answer.
The trade pages on this site cover results for HVAC companies and results for plumbing companies, and both sit under the results page.
There are five: the CHOICE Service Call Playbook, the CHOOSE2 Replacement Sales Playbook, the CSR Master Playbook, the Home-Service Profit and Performance Toolkit and the Elite HVAC Service Manager System. They are written for the people who do the work, which means technicians, customer service representatives, salespeople and service managers.
Each one has its own page explaining what is inside it. Those pages are informational, so if one looks like the answer to your loudest problem, ask about it and you will be told what is involved. Start at the products page.
No. There is no warranty on coaching, training or consulting, and there is no warranty attached to the products. What there is instead is the guarantee above. The guarantee applies to coaching engagements, and its terms, along with what the work covers, are agreed before anybody starts.
Business results depend on the business, its market, its people and what the owner actually does with the plan.
No, and it does not really apply. BGS Strategies is a coaching, training and consulting business, not a service company, so there is no truck rolling at midnight. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 4 PM Central, and calls before 10 AM usually reach voicemail because Kerry is coaching.
Leave a message and he will call back. If something is urgent, say so in the message.
Two front doors, one 90 day frame, and a phone number that a person answers.
The $100K Conversation is a live session Kerry Webb runs every Thursday, 11 AM to noon Central, for owners who are ready to talk about growth. You register through the link, you turn up, and you bring your own numbers. It is the main front door into the work.
Registration happens on Kerry Webb's Blue Collar Blueprint site, bgsbluecollarblueprint.com, so the button takes you off this website. Put the hour in your calendar before you register, because it runs at the same time every week.
The Business Assessment is a free self-assessment for an owner who is still working out where the problem actually is. It runs on Kerry Webb's Blue Collar Blueprint site, so the button takes you off this one. You answer questions about your own company and get back a picture of where the money is hiding.
There is a page on this site explaining how the Blue Collar Blueprint fits alongside the coaching, including the free community that goes with it.
The 90-Day Plan runs for 90 days, so 90 days is the frame the work is built in. The first stretch is analysis: six components, run across the business, producing a list of what is leaking and in what order to fix it. After that the fixes get installed and measured.
Improvement is measured, not just promised. Nobody on this side of the table is going to tell you a number moved if the scoreboard says it did not.
Call 940-441-3231 or email support@bgsstrategies.com. There is one contact form on this site, on the contact page, and it goes to the same inbox. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 4 PM Central, and the form asks for your trade so the first call starts in the right place.
The address on the contact page, 2039 Meadows Ave., Ste. 101, Lantana, TX 76226, is a mailing address. There is no office to drop into.
Two questions with short answers, and no hedging on either.
BGS Strategies works with owners across the United States and Canada. The business is based in Lantana, Texas, in Denton County north of Dallas and Fort Worth. The 90-Day Plan does not change because the state does.
Kerry Webb has spoken at trade conferences from Maui to Las Vegas to South Carolina, so working outside Texas is not a new idea here.
The business assessment is free, and Level 1 of the Skool community is free. It contains the 7 Step Method, and the community on Skool is free to join. There is no trial period and no card required.
To get the full set of the 7 Step Tools, serious clients move to Level 2 membership on Skool at $295 a month. If you want to fast-track your growth and success, sign up for the 90-Day Plan at $7,500. To learn more, register for the $100,000 Conversation webinar.
These three come up on nearly every call. Short versions here, full versions in the articles on this site.
Build repeat business, convert more of the inquiries you already receive, and market the work that actually makes you money. Start by reviewing the last 90 days by service type, customer source and location, and find the jobs that produced real gross profit without excessive travel, callbacks or collection trouble.
Then build a recurring customer base through maintenance agreements, close the gaps between inquiry and payment, measure marketing by profitable completed jobs rather than cheap leads, and price from your own costs and capacity. The full five-step answer is here: How do I get more consistent, profitable jobs?
Make your company a place a good technician chooses to stay, pay an hourly rate with weekly performance pay tied to revenue goals, and recruit continuously instead of only when somebody quits. Hiring in this trade is a standing job, not an emergency errand.
Make the job offer specific, build several recruiting sources, check ability consistently, give new hires a structured start, remove the daily frustrations that make the job miserable, and tie advancement to skills a technician can see how to earn. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics keeps the national picture on technician demand, and the full six-step answer is here: How do I find, and keep, good technicians?
Ten of them, and most of them weekly. Gross profit dollars and margin by department, operating profit margin, a breakeven plus 10 percent revenue target, booking and estimate acceptance rates, overhead as a percent of income, maintenance agreements and renewal rate, cash forecast, labor hours, callbacks and customer acquisition cost.
Two of Kerry Webb's own standards sit inside that list: keep overhead below 40 percent of total revenue, and present maintenance on 100 percent of calls while signing up 50 percent. The U.S. Small Business Administration publishes plain guidance on managing business finances, and the full answer, with the question each number answers, is here: Which numbers should I be watching to sustain a healthy profit level?
Free, and it tells you where to look first.
